Hattie's Chowder house has established itself as one of the best chowder houses in central Maine. The reasons are obvious, fresh food is always served when it is available, the FRYOlATERS are always cleaned out not filtered, no cutting corners here. HarrietT and David's, (owners), dream goes back to the early 80's when they owned another restaurant in central Maine. With more than 30 years experience under their belts they feel like they have their service and specials down to a science!
One of the most popular dishes in their Famous Lobster Stew. the original recipe came from HarrietT's cousin, as any good chef she could not resist adding her own touch. Today people order the lobster stew and many other chowder's from the web site over night and serve it fresh the next day! What a TREAT!
People often ask them about the secret to their success. It’s really no secret. You can see it yourself at Hattie’s every day. They all love what they do. They love filling their guests with appetizers, lunch, dinner or desserts and great cocktails, leaving full and happy, they take great pleasure in it. Bruce Mayo, manager, has a flair for keeping you comfortable and engaged in conversation at the bar. Bruce has been with David and Harriet for many years. it is obvious that Bruce truly enjoys his job. As you will see not many bar stools are available on Thursday or Friday nights, You'll have to come early to get a conversations seat with Bruce.
